Teenager Forces Abortion on His Girlfriend

Pregnancy is a rather scary experience. Any woman who has ever been pregnant can vouch for that. But you want to know what makes that experience even scarier, still being in high school. Oh, and the fact that your boyfriend, the baby's father, is trying to have your baby killed. Unfortunately there are boys out in the world like Charles D. Young; an 18-year-old who had just received news that his 17-year-old girlfriend was pregnant. Young, who learned of the pregnancy after breaking up with the girl, initially expressed interest in raising their child but later told his ex-girlfriend he wanted nothing to do with the baby, however, she still decided to keep it.

After he couldn't talk her into abortion or adoption, he decided to take matters into his own hands by hiring a hit man. The plan was to have the hit man injure his girlfriend so badly that the almost full-term fetus would die. Young was later arrested after a classmate learned of his plan and went to the police, who then arranged to have Young and an undercover officer meet. Young told the officer in a recorded conversation that he didn't care whether his former girlfriend survived the attack; she was an expendable asset to him now. Young was sentenced to over six years in prison, 76 ½ months to be exact, after he pled guilty to first degree solicitation to commit manslaughter.

Young's attorney says that Charles is a very intelligent young man, but simply received some bad advice. This entire situation establishes the fact that most teenage boys are just as afraid as girls are when it comes to pregnancy at a young age. Statistics show that most young men don't stick around to help when they discover that their "then" girlfriend is expecting. Some are simply not ready to be tied down and have responsibilities, especially if they haven't graduated high school yet. Some also believe that there is still fun to be had and that having a baby would suck all of the fun out of their life.
