To freshen the air in my home I have always loved the scent of vanilla. To quickly give the rooms in my home a nice vanilla scent I would spray the air freshener in each room after cleaning. I mostly have used Air Wick Vanilla Indulgence which I could get an 8 oz can at Walgreens for $1.99. I did end up buying a can of Glade French Vanilla one day because I found it at Walgreens for $1.79 in a 9 oz can. Figuring it was cheaper and by Glade I had found a pretty good deal. Well I will show you how well the products compare to each other.

Pricing:

The pricing difference is not that great but 20 cents is 20 cents. Not only was the Glade French Vanilla 20 cents cheaper than the Air Wick Vanilla Indulgence but the Glade French Vanilla came in a 9 oz can versus Air Wick's Vanilla Indulgence. So I did in fact get a pretty good deal on this end of it.

Scents:

The scents is where the true difference really shows. Both products gave off the vanilla scent that I love but with some major differences. To see how the Glade French Vanilla held up to my normal brand Air Wick Vanilla Indulgence, I sprayed the Glade in the living room and used Air Wick in the dining room. The differences were immediate.

The Glade French Vanilla when first sprayed left a chemical smell. The air smelled clean but there was no hint of the vanilla scent. After about 3- 5 minutes the air did end up having a very faint vanilla scent. Now for me this was not going to do very well. I like to smell the vanilla fragrance in the air. Not only was the vanilla scent very faint but it did not last very long. Also if I wanted to spray right before company showed up I would have to time this so that they either did not smell the chemical smell, or so that the vanilla scent was still in the air. Glade French Vanilla did not leave much time to work with.

Takeaways
  • The Glade French Vanilla when first sprayed left a chemical smell.
  • The Air Wick Vanilla Indulgence gave off an immediate vanilla scent into the air.
  • Air Wick Vanilla Indulgence also lasted longer in the air than the Glade French Vanilla.

A review that gets straight to the point- if it doesn't smell good, why buy the air freshener?
