Every movie company tries to release movies with catchy taglines. While almost all movie taglines are forgotten, there are some that stay with us forever. There are some taglines, especially for horror films, that become a part of our everyday culture.

The Exorcist

"The one hope, the only hope: The Exorcist," has become less important over the years. When it first came out, the tagline was used to refer to any problem that did not appear to have a clear path to overcoming it. It was meant to signify a problem that only someone with power granted from God could overcome.

Modern culture has changed this famous phrase into, "You better call an exorcist." Contrary to popular belief, this was never truly a tagline for the movie.

Poltergeist

The tagline, "They're here," is not only one of the most memorable taglines in history, it is also one of the most widely used. The phrase, along with the musical tone that is reminiscent of the one from the movie, has come to be a modern phrase that is stated when someone is arriving that others were not hoping to see.

Since the phrase, "They're here," was meant to signify that the ghosts had arrived in the movie, Poltergeist, it now alludes to the belief that a person who is arriving somewhere is about as welcome as the ghosts from the movie. It can also be used in sarcastic statements about invited guests that can sometimes be more trouble then they are worth.

Night of the Living Dead

"They're coming to get you Barbara," is a staple of modern horror culture. It is impossible to think about the movie, Night of the Living Dead, without thinking of the famous quote and tagline. Anyone who is named Barbara has most likely heard this line more times then she can remember.

It has come to mean that a person should be careful because there are other people that are waiting for her to trip up. It is known as both a friendly, and sarcastic warning.
