Madeleine McCann and How to Be a Successful Kidnapper

For the teenagers who thought it was difficult in being accepted by their peers and passing media scrutiny in what's acceptable on the outside- try being a less-than-beautiful kidnapping victim.

Madeleine McCann

The race is on to find Madeleine McCann. The little girl, who was kidnapped on May 3, 2007 while with her family in Portugal, would have celebrated her fourth birthday on May 12.

Gosh, isn't she precious? Just look at those eyes. Who couldn't love this child?

It's a good thing she wasn't fat- because then, well.... then she'd be just another victim.

Alyssa Ann Frazier

Alyssa Ann Frazier has been missing since Mar 26, 2007. If she's still alive, she'll turn 13 on May 19. She's a normal, little white girl from Paris, Texas. Unfortunately, she's a bit chunky and therefore hasn't received nearly as much attention from the media. After all, she's not giving them the "awe" factor they require to kick-start proper national exploitation.

With only seven weeks into her disappearance, a Google News search yields only ten results. What's even more disheartening is that these results are little more than an Amber Alert.

Madeleine McCann, however, has secured over 2,784 results. Every angle of her disappearance has been written about- how it happened, what her parent's say, who's donating reward money and who's holding out hope.

Have the Olsen Twins signed on to portray her in a made-for-tv movie yet?

Lucia and SaRiyah Guillen

Sixteen-year-old Lucia Guillen and her seven-month-old brother SaRiyah have been missing since February 25, 2007 from Manheim, PA. Photos of both children are less than flattering. SaRiyah's hair is all over the place and looks almost fake. As he stares off to the right, a milky drool prepares to stain his Bugs Bunny one-zee.

A Google News search netting zero results.

The Rewards

With the exception of those provided by tips lines and such, a specific reward for finding Lucia and SaRiyah Guillen seem almost non-existent. However, millions have been pledged towards the successful recovery of Madeleine McCann.

Did I mention how cute she is?

So, in the first half of your statement you have told me (my opinion) that the cuter the child the more wealthy the parents.

Don't let your children out of your sight, teach them about stranger danger. God Bless all of our children, those at home safe and those who are missing.

I don't think it is because some kids are prettier than others. Obviously the cute little girls parents have more money, as they are both doctors, and are able to financially support a broader search. They put some of their own money into getting more attention to the case, and then other people saw it and donated to the cause. Perhaps the parents of the "less attractive" children didn't have the money to get more publicity than what the local news brought. You are suggesting that the parents of the "less attractive" children loved their children less and didn't put out the effort to get more publicity. Most parents love their children regardless of their appearence. I agree that prettier people in general get more attention, but I hardly think that is the case when it comes to children who are missing. I am a poor parent. If my children came up missing, I would go to the local wealthy families in town and ask for some financial assistance in getting publicity for my case. Don't let y

I just want to go on the record saying that I knew both Lucia and SaRiya and both are quite beautiful (although the pictures are not flattering). Second, I worked in the group home they ran from and was crushed when I found out that they had disappeared. I have prayed for them and checked their status often - there are people who care! I am excited to report that from what I understand they have been found and are safe. My only concern is what happens to them now??

Lucia is SaRiyah's mother. SaRiyah is a girl, by the way. You left out the fact that Lucia had a baby at 15; She's a minority; She was living in a group home. But, by the way, Lucia ran away with her boyfriend, SaRayah's father...

It would have been nice if you had helped publize the lesser known missing children cases you mentioned by providing links and/or photos. I had an Amber Alert ticker on an old blog (does not work on my website) and would often follow local cases. It would be nice if the Associated Press would make every missing child case top headline news. It seems top searches are of the Hilton-Jolie-Spears-Simpson type.

It is their fault as they left their children, 3 babis in a room on their own, thats neglect. the grandma of the girl who was mauled to death by a dog was taken to court immediatly and charged with manslaughter, she was from a council estate, is that why its different? Not fair!
