Florida has some interesting local restaurants that make for fantastic dining experiences. They are themed, as in relating to the surrounding areas natural wildlife or old town charm. This mother's day was special, for we living in Florida have been under quite the strain with the two-hundred wildfires blazing, with no relief in sight from smoky air and evacuations. Many people have been told to leave their homes, but for the few lucky ones that live away from the fires, we are grateful for our local community and its excellent eating establishments.

Since 1980, BlackBeards Inn has provided both locals and tourists with wonderful atmosphere and delectable food. A favorite every year on Mother's day, the restaurant that I take my mother to each year is located in a sleepy fishing village in New Smyrna Beach Florida on Route 1, or the Old Dixie Freeway. The minute one steps inside, the delicious smell of fresh seafood permeates the air. The restaurant décor is charming, with hanging fish, pictures of boats, hard wood floors, and quaint dining areas, on either side of the restaurant. The tables are made of clear Lucite, with real seahorses, starfish, seashells, Spanish coins, and other treasures underneath. They have rolls of brown paper towels mounted on the side of each booth, so diners never run out of napkins. That's just the beginning of cozy comfort in this place.
