 at a very young age.

She won two silver medals, one in the 100-meter breaststroke and one in the 200-meter breaststroke. She also won a gold medal as part of the 4x100 meter medley relay team.

Her appearance at the 2000 Sydney Olympics were not as successful as Amanda Beard was only able to capture one medal, a bronze in the 200-meter breaststroke.

A year later, at the Athens Olympics, Beard once again was able to capture three medals in a single Olympics. Her highpoint came in the 200-meter breaststroke where she captured the gold medal. She won a silver medal in the 200-meter individual medley and another in the 4x100 meter medley relay. She just missed out on a medal in the 100-meter breaststroke, finishing in fourth place.
