Potty Training 101: Do You Have the Potty Training Blues?
Welcome to Potty Training 101! Toilet training can be a huge ordeal for some children. This task usually is harder for boys than it is for girls, to get the hang of. It's a scary thing for children. Imagine what they are thinking. Here they are, so small, having bottles taken away and then the pacifier if they have one, and now the diapy, as most babies would say. They have worn diapers since they were born; it's like a part of them. Of course they are going to have issues parting with something that has been with them for this long. Not to mention the toilet that looks so big it could swallow them up. Imagine if you were to go in the bathroom and be faced with a toilet that comes to YOUR waistline. Scary thought wouldn't you think?
There are many ways to accomplish this development in their lives. Pushing or screaming is not the way to do it. The more you push, the more they will refuse to do it. I mean think about it, how many kids do you know that are in diapers when they go to school? Your child will get it eventually. Just be patient and give them time. There are ideas out there that do work but every child is different and what works for one child may not be the best option for another.
Out of my three children, all three trained differently and at different stages of their toddler years. Of course there will be accidents. Don't we all make mistakes, and we are grown ups. At least their mistake can be wiped away, some of ours can't. Whatever you do, don't yell at them for accidents. It will only make the potty training process take longer. Here are a few methods that I used and maybe some of them will work for you. Remember, what works for one child may or may not work for another.
