Bath Towels
One of the most important household items worth spending extra money on is bath towels. It is possible to save money on this purchase by selecting less expensive or value priced bath towels. However, cheap bath towels can fall apart easier and be difficult to clean thoroughly. Bath towels that cost more than $2.99 at regular price and do not come in a pack of three will last much longer than cheap items. Just because it is best to stay away from cheap bath towels does not mean that you have to go bankrupt while shopping.

There are affordable bath towels available at K-Mart, Walmart and Target. Martha Stewart has a great collection of bath towels that will not exceed your budget. These bath towels are both durable and attractive. While it may seem that Martha Stewart has taken over the bath section of stores like K-Mart, there are other brands of bath towels available. Bath towels are definitely one of the top household items that you should splurge on.

Wash Cloths
When it comes to shopping for the home, you cannot have bath towels without wash cloths. These items are crucial to your daily routine. Wash cloths are additional household items that should not be purchased cheaply. This is especially true if they are being selected for the sole purpose of saving an extra few dollars. Much like bath towels, cheap wash cloths will not last very long. It is best to purchase high quality wash cloths for your home. You can save the cheap cloths for washing your car or appliances.

Dish Detergent
The quality of dish detergent is found in its effectiveness. It costs much less than household linens. Yet, many consumers still choose to purchase cheap dish detergent. This will not clean your cookware and dinnerware. Good dish detergent can be used in moderation.

The same is not true for cheap dish detergent such as the store brand products. They are watered down and can easily be used up within three days. Dish detergent of good quality will properly clean away grease and dirt. There are several good brands of dish detergent including Dawn, Ajax and Palmolive. The selections may vary depending on where you shop.

I have a few brand name items that I can't live without. Dishwashing liquid and laundry detergent are two products I've decided not to skimp on.
