There is nothing like spoiling your mom for Mother's Day-- buying her trinkets and flowers, or taking her out for a relaxing and leisurely lunch. The latter is what I thought I was doing when I decided to treat my mom by starting our Mother's Day's festivities with a light lunch at a neighborhood Applebee's restaurant. The particular franchise I chose was in Cobb County, very close to Interstate 75 and Franklin Road. I do not frequent this exact location too often. So, the mini-disaster that I am about to divulge may be specific to this Applebee's restaurant.

Getting Started...

Mom and I were very pleased to see that the parking lot offered several empty spaces. This meant that the lunch crowd would be light. Upon entering the place, we realized that we were right. Not only was this Applebee's not filled to capacity. The atmosphere really did feel relaxed, as everyone was carrying on pleasantly quiet conversations. But this is where things start getting a little bumpy. Looking around the room, I saw quite a few Applebee's staff members and quite a few empty tables. The problem is that two families appeared to have been waiting for a few minutes. This seemed odd, considering that there was ample seating in the restaurant. At any rate, a smiling server escorted my mother and I to an awaiting booth, since the two of us were apparently easier to seat. The process seemed a little disorganized. But so far so good...

Drinks anyone?...
