I have a bad habit of listening to conservative talk radio. Usually not Limbaugh, who hasn't had anything interesting to say in seven or eight years; not O'Reilly, that deeply deluded narcissist; and for God's sake not Glenn Beck - I'm not that self-loathing. In the mornings the last few weeks it's been Dennis Miller, who has grown progressively less funny over the years but still manages to make me laugh every once in awhile. And at least Miller is hip to modern popular culture and has decent taste in music. Then in the afternoons, as I'm driving back and forth to school or wherever, it's the G. Gordon Liddy show.

Liddy burglarized the Watergate Hotel on behalf of President Richard Nixon in 1972 and wound up serving four years of a twenty-year prison term for it (he was pardoned by President Jimmy Carter). Since then he's been an author and touring lecturer, and since 1992 a radio host. I find myself agreeing with virtually none of his personal opinions, but his show is one of the few places where callers with views contrary to those of the host are allowed on the air and given a chance to speak. Liddy's show is often a forum for expression and debate, rather than a platform for the host to pontificate.

What makes you such a great judge of all this anyway?

The problem with all those... including the two comments, have little actual knowledge of history or the bible. Prophecy has always been the most central point of Judaism, not just Christianity. Yeshua ben Yosef was a real Jewish man, who lived a real life, and died a real death on a tree/cross. The Gospels themselves have been legimized by secular and Jewish sources of the time, including the writings of Flavius Josephus. Without the bible, we can reconstruct Jesus' life, teachings, death and that his very first followers believed He resurrected. But that is not that big of a deal, knowing that he was truly a historical figure. What is peculiar are the actions of his closest followers. (In the years leading up to Jesus' ministry many came claiming to be the Jews promised Messiah (Christ), why? Well, because of that P word, prophecy. Daniel had actually prophesied a future event of the coming of the Messiah on a specific year, from his time in the 6th century BC. "Know and understand t

PS: I have read the exact opposite on some Christian website that they think GWB is appointed by God to fight this "holy" war over oil.

"The love of many will cool off" (or some such words) is one of the signs (likened to the blossom on a fig tree) of the beginning of Armagedeon. "There will be floods in one place after another" is another. Sometimes I think we are seeing Biblical prophecy unfold, but then I look at all the stars in the sky and think of the zillions of people who have lived and died. The book of Revelation gives an exact number of those who will be saved and I know I could not possibly be amongst those 144,000. (may be a bit off on the figure)I tend to believe a lot of what is recorded in the Bible points to ET's visiting the earth all those years ago when many still believed the earth was flat.
