The historical sites of Massachusetts go back to a time when the United States was not even a dream. If you are interested in the history of the early settlers, the ones who were brave enough to cross a strange ocean, on a journey lasting many months, Massachusetts is one of the few places in the country with historical sites that go back this far. These historical sites in Massachusetts would make great stopping places on your Historical Sites Theme Vacation. You will be able to plan your own stops, travel at the speed you want to and come away with so much knowledge, that you just might not want anything but a Theme Vacation from here on.

Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum is one of the most historical sites in Massachusetts. The theme of the museum focuses on all the different time periods in Provincetown, from the days of the Pilgrims in the 1620's to modern times and there are exhibits such as a 19th century sea captain's parlor at home and his quarters at sea and a diorama of the Mayflower Compact being signed aboard the Mayflower in Provincetown Harbor. You can even see the town's first fire engine, built in the 1830s by an apprentice of Paul Revere. The monument itself is magnificent, a tower reminiscent of the Washington Monument . This is one historical site that will fit into any theme vacation. They are located at High Pole Hill Road, Provincetown, Massachusetts 508.487.1310
