The Film, The Pink Panther was highly advertised on television as a funnyy film that was a remake of the 1978 original. This one starred Steve Martin and Beyonce Knowles and I must say I was terribly dissapointed. Steve Martin is fresh off his sequel that features him and his wife having to keep up with 12 children. That actually was sort of funny and in general I like Steve Martin's films. Beyonce has also had some decent films but this wasn't one fo them.

The premise of the film is that a famous soccer coach has been murdered and his expensive jewel named the Pink Panther has been stolen be thieves. The French government needs to get a derective on the case but no one capable is availabe, ( a really far fetched idea) so they contact Steve Martin who plays the role of inspector Jacques Clouseau and he is with his partner named Ponton who is equally as bad a detective. The film is supposed to be funny on part because of Martin's bad French accent. In one scene that has been replayed over and over again in previews, Martin says, "hamburger" when he is trying to say "the burgler." This really isn't that funny and neither is this flm.

Beyonce makes an appearance as a criminal suspect by the French police and Martin must prove that she is innocent and he must find the real murderer and thief.

The film is directed by Shawn Levy and this film is not directed or scripted very well. I saw the original film of the Pink Panther and I can saw you should rent it instead of seeing this awful film.

The storyline is played out and is unoriginal. The film really centers around Martin and without him being his funny self, there really is no reason to see this box office flop.

I agree that this movie was a big disappointment. But you must not have been paying attention. Jacques Clousseau was purposely chosen so that he wouldn't solve the case before Kevin Kline's character did. And he really was trying to say "hamburger" when he was trying to say "hamburger." The scenes revolving around that word were simply ridiculous. Sellers was a genius--he could actually play slapstick in a subtle way. Steve Martin just does slapstick.
