In this review, I am comparing two different brands of cinnamon-flavored breath mints.

Cinnamon Dark Chocolate Dipped Altoids

First, we have the new dark chocolate dipped cinnamon Altoids mints that were released in December, 2006.

Most of us recognize the small tins in which Altoids are packaged. Many people have used these tins for a variety of uses, such as the storage of small items, pinhole cameras, radios, MP3 players, and as containers for survival kits. The possibilities are endless.

History & Origins

Altoids breath mints were first introduced in Britain during the reign of King George III (1780s). They were created by the London-based Smith & Company, which became part of the Callard & Bowser-Suchard company in the 1800s.

Callard and Bowser-Suchard was sold by Beatrice Foods to Terry's of York in 1982, which was then bought by Kraft General Foods International in 1993. Wrigley's of Chicago then bought the Callard and Bowser-Suchard and Life Savers brands from Kraft in 2004. Wrigley announced in 2005 that they were moving the Altoids production to its Chattanooga, Tennessee plant in order to manufacture its products closer to where they are sold.

In July 2006, Wrigley announced that they would be releasing chocolate-dipped Altoids. In December, they were released and they are now available in three flavors: peppermint, ginger and cinnamon.

Cinnamon Tic Tacs

Secondly, we have cinnamon-flavored Tic Tacs. Most everyone has tried these mints. They are packaged in those unique plastic containers with flip-top lids that can fit in your pocket. And everyone recognizes the rattle sound, like a snake, when the containers is shaken.

Altoids, the curiously strong mint. I tried the chocolate, they were ok.
