Webcam Girls on MySpace

Like many people, I have been constantly plagued by annoying messages from fake girls on My Space telling me how cute I am, and how I can see them nude on their webcam for a small, one-time fee. Words cannot describe how aggravating and annoying this truly is. I have received so many of these messages followed by the subsequent and inevitable friend request, that I no longer need to read the message or even check the profile to spot a fake.

I have always been curious as to how much money these people or sites actually make. Well, the other day while sifting through classified ads looking for freelance gigs, I came across an ad that said "Make $20 an hour NOT A GET RICH QUICK SCHEME!" This obviously seemed too good to be true, so I had to investigate. Low and behold, it was an adult webcam site trying to recruit internet sales people for their company. Out of sheer curiosity, I decided to submit my request to join their sales team.

A few hours later I received an email informing me that I had been accepted and that I could download their "training manual" by clicking on a link provided in the email. The training manual gave me very specific and detailed instructions on how to set up a fake My Space account, Yahoo Messenger account, and fake Yahoo email address. It then gave me explicit instructions on how to use these tools to generate online sales.

The manual provided me a username and password that would allow me to login to the companies' website, and gather photos and bios for the fake My Space and Yahoo accounts. It then explained how I could "convince" guys to sign up for the webcam membership by making them believe that I was actually the webcam girl when I spoke to them on My Space and Yahoo. One administrator told me in an IM chat that I should tell the customer "I will meet you for a drink if sign up for my webcam."
