On Mothers Day my husband took his mother and myself out to breakfast at our local Denny's restaurant. Not my place of choice but it's the thought that counts. Anyway, we got there about 9:00 am, waited about 25 minutes to be seated even though it was not busy at that time. We finally got seated. The hostess gets your drink order. You think she would bring your drinks but she gives it to your waitress. The wait for our waitress was about 10 minutes. She finally got our order which took almost an hour to get to us. The waitress was very nice and polite and kept apologizing for not getting to us sooner.
After about an hour our food finally arrives. The eggs were runny and the pancakes were very rubbery, like an old worn out tire. My husband's sausage was almost raw and his bacon to crispy for his taste. He was in the process of wanting to send his food back but the waitress didn't come back for a while. The food is usaually good at Denny's but that morning it was not very edible. This is highly unusual for this establishment since they almost always get good reviews. My review of the food on that particular day: thumbs down!

Although the food may not have been so good, the atmosphere at Denny's is quite comfortable. It's very light and airy. The wallpaper reminds you of your grandmother's house early in the morning when grandma is making pancakes and gravy and the smell goes through the whole house. The carpet is a very pretty royal blue with flower designs all over it. For a place that is usually very busy was very clean, especially the carpet and tables. There are no tablecloths but the tables are very cute. Denny's set their tables with wrapped silverware and salt and pepper shakers. There is a little holder with three different kinds of sugar in it. I would prefer a tablecloth on the tables just for the homey look.
