The Marble cell phone from Virgin Mobile is a quality buy. It can be bought at Wal-mart for under thirty dollars, but it is easily comparable to other quality cell phones. The Marble cell phone from Virgin Mobile is perfect for all members of the family, from a young teen to an elderly grandparent due to the wonderful features available. And since Virgin Mobile is everywhere that Sprint is, service is dependable.

To start with, the phone is fully customizable. Graphics can be used as wallpaper, screensavers and caller ID. Sounds, such as ringtones, alerts and other miscellaneous sound effects, can also be downloaded. A ringtone can be set to play when a particular person calls. Or the phone can be programmed by contact groups so that when a person from a set group calls a particular ringtone will play.

There is many dialing features programmed into the phone. There is voice dialing in which you say "dial" and a name. There is the frequently called list which places the ten most called numbers at the forefront of the contacts list. There is also speed dial.

When someone calls a Virgin Mobile Marble cell phone, they receive a nice treat. A song excerpt will play for them instead of the ordinary ringing sound. I was told that the song can be picked by the account holder, but so far, I have not found out how. Perhaps it is possible to do this from the Virgin Mobile website.

The phone is web capable, allowing the user to keep in touch with email accounts and read blogs or news articles. Other items that can be read off the web from the phone is jokes, horoscopes and weather. The phone has a built in feed reader, so it is possible to program exactly what feeds you receive. However, Virgin Mobile has pre-programmed a few feeds for you, most of which can be removed.

The Marble phone comes pre-programmed with two games, Race 21 and Brick Attack. Race 21 is a card game that is very similar to Blackjack. Brick Attack is a basic brick breaking game, which is very popular in pc gaming. Both games are of decent quality and has music introductions. The speakerphone feature also works to play the in-game sounds louder.

Takeaways
  • Virgin Mobile is serviced by Sprint.
  • The Marble phone can be bought at Wal-mart for forty dollars.
  • The phone is customizable with graphics, web feeds and sounds.

The Marbl Is Terrible! I wasted my money on this thing. Its WAY too slow! And the service sucked! I was lucky to have 1 bar most of the time. When i'd make calls, the phone sounds really fuzzy and the other persons voice would jump/skip. I couldn't hear much at all. The texting on this thing was a joke. I'd write something, and its so slow that it had to catch up to what i was typing in. Plus, my friends would text me, and i'd get their texts about a half an hour AFTER they'd sent it. *one time i recieved a text at 2:00 in the morning when the text was sent around 8:00 PM....no joke!*

This is the slowest phone ever. When you open the menu, VirginXL, contacts, or basically anything else, it takes about 3 seconds. (Except for VirginXL which takes about 12 seconds.) It is also very slow for texting. Its sooo frustrating when you text. The web is also very slow, and its 1.00 or 1.99 for one day of going on the web, but when I did it, it only let me go on for a couple hours. Also, the speakerphone is pathetic. You can barely hear it even in a small closed in room with the volume all the way up. Its ridiculous. The battery life isnt that great either. And it doesnt have a lot of features. I guess it's not bad for the price, but still, it could be al ot better. I got the Super Slice a couple days ago, and when I saw how fast it was compared to the Marbl, I realized that the Marbl's just a cheap piece of crap.

got a marbl from radio shack. $19.95. suppose to get a $10.00 rebate from radio sucks. they denied that i sent all the appropiate paperwork. well screw them cause i did. bye bye radio sucks hello internet electronics. can't undo the damn voicemail without changing phone number according to virgin ? forget that shit. also can't view voicemail without calling in ( bye bye 18 cents a minute). when i asked how i could check the voice mail without calling in virgin said to use another phone to call my phone to check the voicemail. what a bunch of crap. but in an emergency it really came in handy. otherwise it's a pain in the ass.

Got this phone b/c my old virgin mobile was old and crapped out. The marbl was only 14 bucks at wal-mart. Its "OK" if you need a phone. Texting is ok. It is really slow trying to pull up menus, going through contacts, and when trying to pull up phone ballance, it denies you saying you dont have internet access. The ringtone selection is pathetic. But hey, its a cheap phone, and if you need a contact number/voicemail box and don't use the phone much.... this is perfect.

actually, i have the marbl myself. theres no free texting but you can get texting plans. and personally i think that the phones not as great as this review is saying......im not trying to be negative, but at least on me and my friends Marbl, the buttons are extremely slow. if you text a LOT on your phone like i do, i highly recommend not getting this phone! i text pretty fast, so every time on the Marble it has to "catch up" with what i am writing. sometimes it will randomly type things in random places. Its a good phone if your just going to have a phone to talk occasionally on, but i wouldnt get it for a teenager who likes to text and talk.
