Top Six American Idol Season Six Shockers

With season six of American Idol dwindling down, it is time to take a look back at the performances and episodes of this past season. Each season there are many great performances, laughs, and singers but the thing that gets the most talk are the shockers. Here are this season's top six AI shocks.

6. The Beatboxer Can Sing! In early auditions what looked to be like a novelty act, proved to be one of the strongest contestants this season, when Blake Lewis stopped the beatboxing act and performed "Somewhere Only We Know" by Keane on the first week of the final 24. From then on it isn't a shock how far he has made it, blending his unqiue song selections and beatboxing.

5. Phil Sings Country: I guess they don't play country music in outer space, because the "alien" Phil Stacey even surprised himself when he performed and succeeded during country week. He should have discovered those talents earlier, perhaps he could have won over the country fans. Too little too late though, as he was already on the verge of getting voted off.

4. Jordin Sparks Up Interest: If you asked me a month ago to bet on Jordin Sparks to win, I would say it was a long shot. About halfway through the season they put the spotlight on her and all of a sudden she became a front runner, with even Ryan Seacrest prediciting her victory. The judges constantly praised her for her age, but her singing has just been medicore. Now in the final two, looking back, it seems the age bias is what pushed her to the end.

3. Frontruner Fizzles: LaKisha Jones broke out early in the competion and was almost a guranteed finalist. All the judges, including Simon, said she had an amazing voice and was a shoe-in. As the weeks went by though, poor song choices, such as singing past winners Carrie Underwood and Fantasia, cost her votes and she only made it to the top four.

2. Sanjaya: The name speaks for itself. As each week went by, it became more and more shocking that this annoying singer made it this far. It is puzzling that anyone would vote for him and the worst part is that the judges even let him make it into the final 24, let alone fans voting him to the final six.
