If you have diabetes like me, chances are you spend a lot of money on diabetic supplies. One of the most important tools to keeping your diabetes in check is the glucose monitor you use. I have recently switched monitors from the One Touch Ultra to the True Track Smart System. In my article I will tell you, in my own opinion which monitor worked best for me.

I developed diabetes after becoming pregnant. At the time my insurance company would only cover the One Touch Ultra products so, that is what I used. After having my baby I remained diabetic and still used the One Touch Ultra monitor. The One Touch Ultra was a great product. It gave fast and accurate readings which I was very happy with. The monitor only took 5 seconds to give me my blood sugar levels and it had a 14 and 30-day average on the monitor to track my progress. I really liked that I could test my forearm instead of my fingers as well. The product was very reliable and reasonable, however when I quit my job to stay at home with my son and no longer had insurance we just could not afford the test strips for the One Touch Ultra. The test strips were completely unreasonable costing nearly a dollar a strip or $90 for one hundred strips. This was something that we just could not afford. It was at this time that we decided to look for another glucose monitor.
