I was alone, sitting outside my house, just enjoying the evening air. Usually I look down on the ground, or maybe straight ahead. But that night something, maybe just curiosity, made me glance upwards. I was looking for a plane or a bird to follow with my eyes, but, up there, only the perfectly dark night sky was visible, unmarred by anything else. It was like a void, an endless black void. As I gazed up into the night sky, I saw a black blanket that seemed to cover everything around me. The beauty of the dark sky was overwhelming. Space was everywhere, surrounding me The trees, the grass, the streetlights, the buildings all seemed to fade away as I took in the awe-inspiring sight of the space above me. The human can never conceive something as beautiful as raw, uncluttered, unrefined outer space. Its darkness, though simple was more beautiful than any other object I had ever seen, no matter how complex. The empty void of outer space demonstrated true beauty, and forced me to reconsider traditional perceptions of beauty.
