The first way to keep your home safe is to keep your animals safe. You don't want a sick animal playing with your children. So to help do this you must keep things away from your animal that you have probably never even thought about. Such as an avocado, onions, salt, raisins, grapes, chocolate, moldy food, garlic, or even macadamia nuts. These are things that are extremely hazardous for your pets. If you have pool, make sure your animals can't drink from it. It could be very dangerous to your pet. I once owned a dog that like to for some reason chew on candles. Make sure your animals are never around citronella candles. The outcome of the chewing on these candles could be fatal. Normal stuff used everyday in your household like dryer sheets, mothballs and even a penny that dates back to 1982 and before are very dangerous. The 1982 and before pennies are unsafe because of the amount of zinc in it. We all love decorating for the holidays but we have to be sure to make sure our pets stay safe and a huge way of doing that. Is to makes sure they don't drink water from the Christmas tree, chew on electrical cords, chew on any tinsel or ribbons. In addition, if you are decorating with glass ornaments you want to make sure they are up high.

The second way to make your home safe and poison free is to keep your children as safe as possible. If you have a crawler, then you will want to always make clean sweeps across the floor. Especially if you have a toddler running around dropping stuff constantly. A dirty floor is a baby's playground. You must get down to their level and see what they see. You will be truly surprised at what you can see that you couldn't see while standing.
