BareMinerals VS. Sheer Cover Makeup

It seems like everyone had jumped on the mineral foundation bandwagon lately. Cover Girl has recently hitched a ride and introduced a line of mineral based products along with L'Oreal. For the woman who wants to avoid the drugstore wall of mass
produced cosmestics, there are arguably the two largest mineral foundation brands - bareMinerals and Sheer Cover. These two brands are all over magazines, home shopping networks, and infomercials. One thing they definitely have in common is a fairly expensive price. I recently had the opportunity to try the 'starter kits' of both bareMinerals and Sheer Cover, and based on personal experience I have compared the two products using a number of criteria that I believe the average woman encounters regularly.

1. Coverage - I am very fair so the whole world can see every blemish and every blush. I look for a foundation that not only covers up my red tones and blemishes, but also doesn't make me look like I'm wearing a gallon of caked on foundation. One of the most beneficial part of mineral foundations in general is its ability to cover and feel light at the same time. Both kits include two shades of foundation so you can mix and experiment, which is very nice. Sheer Cover includes two shades of a cream concealer meant to be used before the foundation to cover up especially bad spots. The concealer is like many other conealers I've used, so it wasn't Earth-shattering. The concealer lays under the mineral foundation well, and it feels pretty light. bareMinerals does not include a separate concealer, and it doesn't need one. The included concealer brush is used in the foundation itself and covers red spots well. Then you use the foundation brush and sweep the foundation all over. The idea of sweeping the same product all over your face is comforting as there is no risk of blending a shade of concealer that does not mix with a different shade of foundation. Both products covered up the redness on my face, but the concealer included with Sheer Cover is too much like cheaper products and could possibly not blend. bareMinerals wins this round.

Bare Minerals is the best. You can e-mail Leslie or Lisa on Qvc with any questions. Also better value packs sold there and they back the product.I aslo recommend the Cindy Crawford skin care system. Very gentle on your skin . It leaves my skin very clean and soft.Your skin care is more than what you put on your face. Its also your eating habits, smoking, drinkin, etc.we've all got to fight our own battles..most of wish started with our own CHOICES.

Hello, Janice I think if you used the Bisque as a conceler prior to putting on your mineral foundation you would see a hugh difference.I also love the Well Rested product for under my eyes. The only product I reapply is my mineral veil.Make sure you are tapping off your brush...start lighty and add by layer for better control. I am also in my fifties and have been using this product since its beginning. I am Blonde Blue eyed and freckeled.I burn very easily.I am the mother og 4 and Na Na to 5. It has saved me kept me looking younger and has actuallybeen great for nourising my skin.I can't say enough freat things about it. I recently tried sheer coverage.I found it to be a poor attempt at making $ by copying Bare Essentials

I haven't personally tried Sheer Cover, yet. But bare minerals was horrible for my olive complexion. I even tried different colors after 2 months and It didn't get better. I would suggest sheer cover.

Ive been useing sheer cover and just tried bare minerals. I love them both but find that sheer cover is the most bang for your buck. Sheer cover is $30 for their started kit and bare minerals is $60. Sheer cover also comes with extra stuff face wash, moisterizer with spf, maskera, and a conceler wich you really dont have to use because the makeup can be used as a conceler also. Its just nice to be able to use their conceler for extra coverage.

I've been using Bare Minerals for the past year. I will NEVER go back to liquid makeup. I have very fair, sensitive, oily skin with dark under-eye circles and constant breakouts. (They told me when I was a teenager it would go away one day, but I'm 26 and still waiting.) Bare minerals is the only makeup I've ever worn that does not make my breakouts worse. In fact, I believe it even helps. It also is great for covering my dark circles. Every other concealer I've used ends up in lines under my eyes within the first hour, and/or does not fully cover the purple. I guess because it's just powder, it doesn't form creases when I move. And, it covers so much more than anything else. I tried the cheaper Loreal brand, and did not like it. The Loreal not only went on heavier, it broke me out like liquid makeup, and even kinda felt like it was burning my skin on sensitive days. I have not tried Sheer Cover, so I cannot speak on that.

By the way, I will be 40 in March 09. I dont think I look 40, but boy, with that makeup on I looked like I was 50 trying to look 40. Very, very disappointing! I have not tried Sheer Cover. I think I might just stick with the cheap stuff...don't fix what aint broke, right? I wear makeup about three times a year, so whatever.

Bare Minerals made me look like I belonged in a casket. Very heavy look, made my pores look huge and wrinkles deeper!! I rarely wear makeup and thought maybe the mineral makeup would be something I could wear daily to just even me out a bit...ewww! No way. Im returning my unopened Bare Minerals today, the day after I bought it. Once I realized how I looked after leavign the store with a "trial" of the makeup on, I was horrified and wiped it off in the car with a baby wipe. ah, much better. If you want to look like you are wearing a heavy mask with deep pores and wrinkles, then spend your money. I would rather look my age than look like a badly made up corpse! The store bought compact powders are better for me than this expensive stuff. I give it an F.

I have used sheer cover and when I did use it I had really dry flaky skin due to the cheap skin care products I was using on my skin. I have found you can use all this natural and holistic makeup which is great for the skin but your skin is the biggest organ in your body. Which means if you are not using a natural skin care regimen all the natural makeup in the world isn't gonna matter, you need to start deeper to get that natural beauty. I have been using this product that was recommended to me and I believe it is the best ever, you will NOT be disappointed. The average person puts 136 different chemicals into their body through their skin from just skin care products!! Doesn't it make sense to use something that is all natural, non-toxic, and chemical free. The product is called Glimpse, you can find it at http://www.brandellskincare.com The website has all the info and research you need. This doesn't just cover the face it repairs from the inside out. It is truely the best product
