Fire Club in downtown Jackson, Mississippi has announced their first annual Battle of the Bands. The club is hosting the event every Sunday beginning in the summer. Winning bands each night will compete in a finals at the end of the summer to be judged partially by the audience and partially by a panel of judges. The panel will consist of several music industry experts, to be named closer to the date. The club is known for its' thriving nightlife crowd, popular rock bands and top bar tenders. Thousands of people enter the doors each night the club is open to party as long as the law will let them stay in the building. The club has recently altered some things to be more accommodating to its' customers, such as lowering its' massive stage, adding ice machines, the completion of its' brand new air conditioning system and an extravagant light show. In addition to these an enormous PA system has been installed to provide optimal quality sound to all that are in attendance.
The Battle of the Bands will be the first ever for Jackson's best rock club, and will most likely be a huge hit in the area. The bands will play two original songs and two cover songs before they let another band take the stage. They will be judged on their sound, appearance and stage presence. The performers are expected to have at least a dozen of their own originals ready by the finale to prepare for the chance of victory.
The band who is declared the winner at the end of the summer will have a huge reward. They will be given studio time at a well known recording studio in town, The Recording Studio. During this time they will record their very own original album with the songs that they have prepared prior to the contest. Once their tracks are recorded in Jackson, Mississippi at the studio, they will be sent The Recording Studio's sister studio in Los Angles, California to be mixed. Record producer and mixer Jay Ruston will be mixing the album for the band. Jay has worked with Desmond Child, Wilson Phillips, Army of Freshman, Lennox, U.S, Jars of Clay, Meatloaf, American Idol, The Donnas, Morrisey and Diana Ross.
