The Tour of Carson Valley Bike Tour and Barbecue

The Bike Tour of Carson Valley - Barbecue and Ice Cream Social is going to take place on Sunday July 1^st. The tour is put on by Bike the West an organization who produces many great Nevada cycling events, and has been doing so since 1984. The Bike tour will cater to all levels of biking experience and promises to be a fun and historical experience.

The tour will start at the Mormon Station State Park in Genoa, Nevada. Genoa is known as Nevada's first settlement. Genoa is very historical as many miners and pioneers passed through this town on the way to California. On the bike tour you will be traveling on roadways and trails once used by the Pioneers, and the Pony Express.

There will be different Bicycling options, so that everyone can participate. There will be a 14 mile Family Fun Ride, a 20 mile Bike and Hike Tour, and a 44 mile bike tour. All tours will end back at the starting point of Mormon Station State Park. After your historic bike ride you can relax and enjoy a Barbecue Chicken lunch and some Ice Cream from the Cold Stone Creamery. You can also explore the park more and you can get out and explore the historic town of Genoa. Genoa has a lot to offer, a museum, bakeries, gift shops, and they even have a great winery called Tahoe Ridge Winery that you can explore in the area.

You can pre-register for The Tour of Carson Valley, or you can register the same day. Registration will open at 8am and goes till 9:30am. It is best to pre-register as it can cost more for the same day registration. Children must be at least 10 years in age to participate and must be accompanied by an adult. Also it is very important that you do not forget your helmet. There will be rest stops along the way and technical support for any problems that you may have.
