Although we generally associate babies with a good refreshing smell which is pleasing to everyone, we know that it's not always true. For one, not only adults can get bad breath, very often we find that babies have very foul smelling mouths for reasons we may not be able to identify. But there really is no more need in putting up with the bad breath, there are various reasons why your baby may have a bad breath, and there are, of course, many ways for you to solve the situation without having it being advanced any further and smelling even fouler than it already is.

Although we may sometimes disregard the fact, and try to ignore it, if your baby has bad breath it should not be unattended to. Instead, it is extremely important to identify the source of the smell, and how to get rid of it. There are many reasons why babies may develop foul smelling mouths, and there is no reason why we should ignore it, and hope it goes away. Sometimes, the reasons and source of foul-smelling mouth can be nothing big whereas at other times, it may be the result of a serious infection. The best way to identify the source of the smell would be to, of course, consult a physician in the matter, and asking for different sorts of checkups like gum inspection.

One of the main reasons babies have bad breath is because of bacteria growth. The most common ways of the increase of bacteria growth is when the baby has to breathe through their mouth instead of their noise, or when they suck their thumb. When the mouth starts to dry from saliva, more bacteria will decide to live in this comfortable zone. For example, sometimes when a baby sleeps, they will breathe through their mouth instead of their nose, and the saliva being produced decreases; thus, the mouth becomes dryer than before. This will encourage the growth of bacteria. The longer the period the baby sleeps, the more bacteria will grow. The best way to prevent this is to brush their teeth. Teach them how to brush both their teeth and tongue to eliminate all the bad odors.
