Publishing an opt-in newsletter has many benefits both to you and to your mailing list subscribers. Your newsletter lets your readers know what's new in regards to your services or products. This means sales and profits for you and it means something new and possibly needed for your mailing list subscribers. It not only helps in sales but in sending more traffic to your site, thereby giving you a more known presence on the web.

In order to keep your opt-in subscribers and to continue to build your mailing list, it's important to remember a few basics about newsletter publishing. Offer fresh content and be sure to check for grammar errors and typing mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes, that's human nature. But to repeatedly send out a newsletter that's riddled with mistakes can cost you in subscribers.

Always check your facts to be sure that the information you are providing your readers is indeed fact. There's nothing so embarrassing as to send out a newsletter with unchecked facts, only to discover after the newsletter is sent that the information you provided isn't true. Your customers and readers trust you. Unchecked facts will cause a loss in that trust and thereby a loss in sales and traffic. Research facts and figures beforehand and give your mailing list factual information.

Your newsletter should be about one main topic or niche area. Refrain from trying to cover everything about everything. Focus in on a main idea and stick to that. You will seen as an knowledgeable expert in your field. It might seem that you would reach a wider audience by spreading in different directions, and you might. But by sticking to a niche target area, you will provide your opt-in mailing list with what they actually signed up for.
