Looking at the considerable collection of announced Democratic candidates for their party's presidential nomination, there are certainly politicians with hefty resumes and crowd appeal. Hillary Clinton totes 8 years of White House "insider" experience and two elected terms as U. S. Senator from New York. John Edwards has plenty of campaign experience. He and his wife have suffered the kind of family tragedies that draw people emotionally to their side. And of course Barack Obama has stirred enthusiasm as a man of intelligence, strength and truth. But standing outside the circle of contenders is Al gore - the best non-candidate candidate and a man who's unannounced status make him a feared rival by members of both political parties in 2008

Al Gore, a non-candidate with experience. Al Gore has had a long and distinguished career in government . Like his father before him, Al Gore served with distinction in the U. S. Senate representing the state of Tennessee. Gore served for two terms as Vice President of the United States, a literal heart beat away from the presidency. President Clinton gave Gore considerable responsibility in his office as together they worked to re-invent government and reduce federal waste. Gore was not a Vice President on the outside looking in but rather one who took on projects of importance during his 8 year tenure.

Included in Al Gore's political experience is the fact that he has gone through the rigors of 3 full fledged presidential campaigns. He more than knows the ropes. He is not just an idealistic environmentalist with his head in the clouds. Al Gore is an experienced politician who has honed his skill. While he was often seen a rather wooden person, over time he learned to turn that into his own joke and his own advantage. Al Gore is a non-candidate with lots of experience in the political arena. There is no one on either side of the aisle who has been directly involved in as many presidential campaigns as non-candidate Gore.

Takeaways
  • Al Gore is respected for the way he handled himself in the defeat of 2008.
  • Al Gore owns the issue of Global Warming and Republicans have no one to match up with him.
  • Al Gore has a great storehouse of political experience

You make a great case for Gore. I'm a Republican, but I've always liked him. I wish he were in the race instead of Clinton and Obama.
