Everywhere I turn, I see people talking about going green. I even saw a green wedding on a T.V. show recently. We all know why we need to conserve our natural resources. Carbon dioxide and losing our forests are causing global warming.

You can still have a memorable wedding day and help save our planet too. Here are a few tips to successfully plan a green wedding and maybe save a little money as well.

1. The dress: Consider a vintage wedding dress that has already been worn. There are eco-friendly websites for wedding gowns. Ebay is also a choice. If a new dress is imperative to you, consider hemp, organic cotton, linen or other similar earth friendly fabrics. Allow bridesmaids to pick out dresses they will be able to use again. Think about reusing your dress too. You might be able to loan it to someone for their green wedding.

2. Invitations: With so many options out there, you have to be savvy. Look for 100% recycled, partly recycled or entirely tree free papers from wedding invitation sellers. You can also email your invitations to cut down on paper. Another option is to set up a website for all your wedding information. This not only is economical, but also gives your friends and family all the information they need for your wedding in a personable way. Here is where you can display photos, location, dates, times, maps, lodging opportunities, and transportation information.

3. Flowers: Your wedding can be beautiful and elegant when you make conscientious decisions about the flowers because whatever you choose can have big eco consequences. Countless flowers sold for weddings are imported from other countries. These countries use pesticides. A much better choice is to choose local, organically grown flowers. Think about flowers that are in season. You will not need to use long-distance transportation because the flowers are right where you live. Remember that horrible floral foam? It may look green, but it definitely is not.

Did You Know?
You can go green for your wedding, conserve natural resources, and still have a beautiful memorable day.
