If you're planning on visiting New York City this summer then you're undoubtedly going to be running into some strangers. While New York City is full of stereotypes that have since been debunked, there are still the roots of those stereotypes and they're almost impossible to avoid when it comes to spending time in the city. Whether you're heading into Manhattan to get something to eat from a fine restaurant or stopping off in Brooklyn to get some of the best pizza in the world, you're going to be running into a few people that might end up ruining your experience in the big apple. Here are a few people to be on the lookout for while you're in the city.

The Greedy Cabbie With all of the public transportation in New York odds are you aren't going to be driving around and dealing with the traffic yourself. Buses usually aren't very comfortable and many people are afraid of using the subway. This ultimately leaves you to catch a cab, but beware of the driver trying to milk the ride for more money. An experience cab driver will know how to make the fair go up when it's being calculated by a machine. Driving slow, taking longer routes and several other foul practices are all exercised against people who don't know what's going on. Your best bet is to keep an eye on the speed limit and how fast you're going and know exactly where you're going by consulting a map of some sort.

The Stare Down Artist Whether you're on the train or at Central Park, there will always be someone who will simply stare at you for apparently no reason. Very few things are as comfortable in public as being stared down by a stranger. If the person is truly suspicious then it shouldn't be too hard to find a police officer who is willing to help you out. But if it's just someone being a jerk then you should simply turn your head the other way-you're in New York to enjoy it, not to start a confrontation with a stranger.
