Desitin Original Diaper Rash Ointment Vs. A+D Original Ointment

As a new parent, I have noticed that there are a wide range and variety of baby care products to choose from. Every time I am in the baby isle at the grocery store, I see all the different types of baby products and all the different brands within those lines of baby products. One type of baby product that has a number of brands to choose from is the category of diaper rash ointments. Diaper rash can be a serious problem for babies. Diaper rash is especially troublesome when your baby or toddler is more active. A baby that is very active by crawling or walking is more prone to have chaffing and diaper rash. So it is very important for the health and comfort of your baby to choose the right diaper rash ointment.

Two of the recent brands of diaper rash ointment that I have used recently are Desitin Original Zinc Oxide Diaper Rash Ointment and A + D Original Ointment Diaper Rash Ointment and Skin Protectant.

Both Desitin and A + D Original Ointment are well known brands of diaper rash ointment and both claim to be the best. I was able to use both of these ointments with my one and two year old kids and I want to give you my take on each one.

Desitin Original Diaper Rash Ointment

If you look on the front of the tube of Desitin, there is a statement that claims Desitin is the number one choice of pediatricians and mothers. I bought this product to see if it would live up to its claim. The main ingredient of Desitin is zinc oxide. Zinc oxide is used for the purpose of being a skin protectant. Desitin claims that the uses for Desitin include helping to protect the skin from chaffing due to diaper rash and it claims to help keep wetness sealed out. Another use of Desitin is to help treat and protect a baby from getting diaper rash.

One of the great things about Desitin is that it has a thick and rich formula that stays on. This product is also great to put on a baby at night. I have had nothing but great results using Desitin. Since using this product, I have noticed less skin irritation in both of my babies.

A+D Original Ointment
