Medium: A Television Show with a Twist

I've always been fascinated by the Paranormal, in every aspect of it, so when I read the previews about a new show that would be airing on NBC called the Medium I knew this would be a show I would have to watch, at least the first episodes to get a feel for it...Now, 3 years later, I'm still watching and have not been disappointed in the least.

The premise is simple in a complex way...

Allison Dubois, (Patricia Arquette), is a suburban housewife with a twist. She is psychic but in just one very strange area, she sees dead or missing people in her dreams. Sometimes a crime scene or weird occurrence... Every show opens with a bizarre type of scenario, most of them frightening to her and to the viewers...She suddenly awakes with a start, usually waking her husband Joe, (Jake Weber), and we are off to an hour of intrigue, mystery and suspense.

She gets a job with the local District Attorney's office in Phoenix where she helps them solve cases with the clues she finds in her dreams...at first everyone is skeptical about her claims that she can do this or what she claims she has seen in those dreams but after she has displayed that ability a few times, solving crimes with knowledge nobody else could possibly know, the skeptics around her start to believe there really is something to gift of hers.

Her husband Joe, a rocket scientist, has his own doubts at first but it doesn't take long for him to realize this is not something to be scoffed at...after all, he's the closest witness to the stressful, abrupt awakenings of Allison since he too loses sleep when she sits up in the middle of the night with a start or scream.

I've always loved their interaction with each other. Even after many years together, three children and the weird trips they have together while she is in the midst of solving a murder or case of a missing person, they still show a deep affection for each other and sexual playfulness. That can be difficult at times with those 3 precocious children, one of whom, shows she might have some similar powers of her own.
