A live action film based on the famous marvel comic book is underway.

The Avengers is a team of marvel superheroes that includes Captain America, The Hulk, Thor, Iron Man and many others.

A film is in development with Zak Penn tackling the screenplay. Zak Penn has worked on the screenplays for Elektra, X-Men: The Last Stand and the upcoming, The Incredible Hulk.

Screenwriter Zak Penn told Superhero Hype, on Monday: "The truth is that would be ideal. The original plan when I talked to Kevin Feige [Marvel Film's President of Production] was that when we make an 'Avengers' movie, it should be the first time that the characters cross-over. It's what every fan has always wanted to see, is where you're watching the movie and there's Robert Downey Jr. and the Hulk intersects with the story. To be totally honest with you, I'm not even going to get started on that for a while. We've talked about it, but there's no point in dealing with it until after these movies even come out. What's great is that with Marvel, they own all the properties, so they can do it if they want to. I think a lot of it will depend on how 'Iron Man' and the 'Hulk' do. I've written a lot of comic book movies, and I need to take a little bit of a break first before I start writing that one."

The movie won't start intill both the Incredible Hulk and Iron Man movies come out. Both are to be released in Summer 2008.

"'Avengers' is definitely going to happen; the idea was always to do a crossover with multiple superheroes. I'm waiting to let 'Iron Man' and 'Hulk' come out because those are two characters that could appear in it. I used to think that movie would be impossible to make but now I feel like it's not," Zak Penn told MTV Friday.

The Avengers was created in 1963 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Tagged by the company as "Earth's Mightiest Heroes", the Avengers originally consisted of Ant-Man, Wasp, Thor, Iron Man, and the Hulk. Almost from inception, however, the roster has been fluid, with the Hulk departing and Captain America joining. The rotating roster has become a hallmark of the team.

Continued, it got cut off: 3. NO NEED to wait for individual characters to have their movies come out before making the Avengers! They can appear in Avengers first, THEN have their solos at the box offices! That's what's happening with Wolverine & Magneto, right? 4. DO NOT make it silly and goofy and cutesy like Fantastic Four movies 1 & 2! Give it actual depth AND great special effects. And DO NOT divert from the comic like FF did! I know movies have too much time constraints etc. to be 100% comic loyal, but the FF movies (especially 1!) strayed so much, they should've been put on a leash and dragged off to the pound! Ok, that's my piece. I hope maybe people who can make a difference in the direction of the Avengers movie will see this and take my advice to heart. If anybody in charge of writing, production etc. sees this, again: all my power to you!

This is about the possible Avengers live action movie: first of all, more power to it, if a superhero group movie like the X-men can be done, so can this! Here's some ideas, though: 1. DO NOT make it like Ultimate Avengers or Ultimates, stay true to the original! 2. I've read opinions about how to make the Avengers origin (the Loki vs. Thor deal from the actual comic not working, etc.) Here's a thought: don't film the origin! No need to! Just capture a certain group of Avengers in the middle of their career (preferably based on mid/late 70's stories), with MAYBE slight reference to the origin and other past events. (NO HULK as an Avenger, that would be silly! Include him as part of an origin flashback, and/or have him as a guest-star, or "enemy/troublemaker/accidental hero" in the story) 3. NO NEED to wait for individual characters to have their movies come out before making the Avengers! They can appear in Avengers first, THEN have their solos at the box offices! That's

Great choice JG, I would also go with Del Toro.

Wow, the budget will have to be astronomical. I'll go with guillermo del toro because he did good on Hellboy.
