A Weekend Getaway in Chattanooga, Tennessee

If you are looking for a city to visit for a fun family weekend getaway, might I suggest you give Chattanooga, Tennessee a look. While Chattanooga might not seem like a great family getaway destination, Chattanooga has really stepped up its effort to promote tourism in the city. The city has made a lot of great changes in the last 5 years that make the city more tourist friendly. Chattanooga has a lot of activities including a world class aquarium, amusement parks, and much more. There are attractions that will appeal to all members of your family.

I grew up in a small town about 30 minutes south of Chattanooga, Tennessee. I am impressed with the way Chattanooga has grown and has became a great city to visit. I would like to give you a few suggestions on what to do if you take a weekend getaway or vacation to Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Chattanooga has a lot of great attractions for kids of all ages. I would like to give you a few suggestions.

The Tennessee Aquarium located in Chattanooga, Tennessee is one of Chattanooga's well known attractions. The Tennessee Aquarium is the largest freshwater aquarium in the world. When you visit the Tennessee Aquarium, make sure you at take a least 2 hours to tour the aquarium. There is also a 3D Imax theater next to the aquarium as well. The aquarium is a great place to visit if you take a trip to Chattanooga. Learn more about the Tennessee Aquarium at www.TNAqua.org.

There are also a lot of attractions in Chattanooga on Lookout Mountain. One of these attractions is Rock City. Rock City is famous for the over 900 red barns painted "See Rock City" that were scattered along the south. Rock City boasts impressive natural rock formations. You can also try to fit through Fat Man Squeeze and walk across that swinging suspension wood bridge. Rock City also claims that you can view seven states from the high point of Lovers Leap. Ruby Falls is also located on Lookout Mountain. Ruby Falls is a 145ft underground water fall. This formation was said to have formed over 200 million years ago. You can learn more about Ruby Falls at their website www.RubyFalls.com.

Wonderful article. Tennessee is beautiful! Chattanooga folks are hospitable and friendly - we made an emergency landing there one time and I was stuck there overnight. The 230 passengers ate every hot dog in the town, but the nice folks kept finding us more food. Thanks for the report.
