Mel Fisher is best known for finding The Atocha. The Atocha was a shipwreck that contained gold, silver, and other valuable antiques. Mel Fisher spent most of his life looking for this treasure. Luckily he was able to live out the last years of his life in Key West Florida. I actually met Mel Fisher while visiting his museum in the mid 90s, right before his death. This attraction really is something to see. The gold bars are simply amazing. You can also buy jewelry that is crafted from the treasure found on the Atocha. This Key West attraction offers several exhibits, but the tickets only cost $11 for adults, $9.50 for students, and $6 for children.

The Key West Cemetery is located on the highest point of the island. The cemetery was moved to the highest point after a 1846 hurricane washed several corpses out of their graves. Now you may wonder why this is a top attraction in Key West Florida. Many people are simply fascinated by the cemetery, not to mention the stories that go along with it. There are approximately 60,000 to 100,000 people buried in this cemetery. The sight of all the above ground graves is truly creepy, but definitely worth a visit.
