While I have traveled quite a bit, the idea for this article came from my own experience of living in a tourist area. I live in Western North Carolina and there are thousands of tourists who visit the area each summer, but our peak season is actually in the fall. Millions of tourists flock to Western North Carolina to view the beautiful scenery. When the leaves start to change, you can bet that there will be tourists and all the problems that come with them. If you plan on visiting Western North Carolina this summer, or fall, please follow these tips. These tips are meant to not only help you, but to keep the peace in Western North Carolina as well.Tips for Tourists Visiting Western North Carolina: Driving
While driving in Western North Carolina tourists should be aware that driving over mountains isn't as intimidating as it looks. Now, I realize that not everyone comes from an area that has such mountainous terrain, but it doesn't hurt to do the speed limit. I only say this because I am forever getting stuck behind tourists who are driving 10 miles per hour. I have to admit that I sit in my car, silently cursing those in front of me, wondering how on earth a mountain could be so intimidating. If you are intimidated by mountains, at least do the nice thing and pull over when you notice that there is a long line of cars piling up behind you. I also understand that the scenery is beautiful, but not everyone is on vacation, some people have to get to work. The same rule applies here as well. Simply pull over and then you can go back to enjoying your vacation without disrupting the lives of people who actually live in Western North Carolina.
