When you go to apply for a freelance writing gig then you need to be able to sell your text. The text on the page is what determines whether or not you get the job. You need to look at the job description closely. You need to make sure that your writing is almost perfect. You need to make sure to double check for errors. You need to word it correctly so it doesn't sound choppy and complicated. Make sure to read the text a few times to catch errors. Make sure to edit your work and eliminate all the words that aren't necessary or just filler words. Ask a friend to look at your work just to make sure that you didn't miss any errors in the text.
First Impression
The first impression is all you get most of the time. You want to impress them. Don't slack off on the writing. When they ask for samples of your work make sure to send them the best writing clips. Send them one of your writing clips that is related to the job that you want to get. Make sure that you sound like a business person. You don't want to sound too relaxed with writing. It is a good idea to have a website with information about you such as your writing clips on it along with how much writing experience you have.
Powerful Words
The words you use is most important. Don't use small little words. Don't use basic words. Make sure to use words that make you sound like you have a college degree. You don't have to have a college degree. Try to sound like a educated person. You want to give them the impression that you care about vocabulary. You want them to think that you know what you are doing. Always remember that words are very powerful. Don't make something sound weak with small basic words. When you use powerful words it makes you sound strong because of the words that you use.
