If you've never watched House, I highly recommend you do. This show gives a well-balanced dose of both comedy and drama, something other televisions shows do not. The show is led by Dr. Greg House, played by Hugh Laurie. With his boyish charm, quick wit, and genus mind, he and his medical staff tackle the tough cases and will keep you guessing on the real diagnosis right up until the end. This is one of my all time favorite television shows and I was shocked to learn Hugh Laurie (whom I adore) is a true jack-of-all-trades. Comedian, novelist, athlete... this man has done it all.

Hugh Laurie was born James Hugh Calum Laurie on June 1, 1959 in Oxford, Oxforshire, England. He's been married since 1989 and he and his wife are the proud parents of three children. He is the youngest of four children and his father was an Olympic oarsman in 1948. Hugh himself could have easily followed this path as he was also known as a world-class oarsman during his college years. During his time at Eton College he also became interested in rowing. It proved to be a talent as he went on the be one of the nations best becoming half of the National Junior Champion Coxed Pair. His love for rowing continued when he started at Cambridge University, however, and illness forced him to give up future rowing competitions.

It was during the healing process that Laurie discovered comedy. An undergraduate comedy revue called Footlights was to be his first association with the world of comedy. By his last year at that school, he'd been elected president of the club. The tours the group went on would prove to be beneficial to Laurie, introducing him to people he would later collaborate with.

His success eventually led him into films. Peter's Friends in 1992 would be the first followed by Sensibility in 1995 and 101 Dalmations in 1996. The film he is probably most remembered for during that time period would have to be Stuart Little from 1999. He played the adoptive father to the human acting mouse played by Michael J. Fox. In 2002, Laurie returned for the sequel.
