If Biggie and Tupac were Still Alive, What Would the State of Hip-Hop Look Like?

Have you ever played the "what if" game? I'm pretty sure you have. As a child you could flip any response back at your mama quicker than she could whoop your ass. She says "Go to bed" you quickly reply "what if there are monsters in the room?" "Take out the trash," and you fire back,
"what if there are muggers waiting for me?" Without being ridiculous you get the idea of speculation.

Now imagine grown men speculating what things would look like if the late Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur were still alive. Is this an unreasonable stipulation? Maybe, but lets take this and examine the 'what if' effect of the hip hop game if these two greats still conquered coasts. Would Nas and other rappers still claim Hip Hop is dead? Or was BIG and Pac the definition of what Hip Hop was? This year marks the ten year anniversary of Biggie's death. Every hip hop fan and follower was shook when the death of Tupac Shakur was followed by Big's death. It brought quick realization to the game that we wasn't doing something right. And ten years later, we are still following the same trap that led to violence in our culture.

If Pac was still alive would he still be rapping? Would he have converted to being only an actor, or would he be with the likes of Martin and Malcolm as one of our Nations prolific leaders? Where would Biggie be? Would he still be the king of NYC? Would Biggie venture out into new industries? And would P. Diddy even have a career? Or would Diddy continue to be Puff Daddy and prance around in other people's videos instead of attempting to make records of his own?

If Biggie was still alive today. I think hip hop would be very different and maybe he would be retired but I am sure he would still have as big of affect as he did then today. These new gangstas are not real like Biggie and Pac.

I am a white female 35 yrs old and I love Biggie still today...Any of those oky doky white rednecks would even understand Biggie and what he rapped about. I live in North St louis and for St Louis this is the ghetto may he rest in peace and may his music keep his legacy alive. He was real as the come......Let him rest please....

This is what I reckon. Pac and BIG were both equals. They had different views and influences and styles and advantages and disadvantages; but they were both equals. I they were alive, you probably wouldn't have these new artists; flo ridah, lil wayne etc. If Pac was alive he would most definitely be an extremely influential, political actor or a straight up politician. He wouldn't be rapping, i can tell you that. BIG I reckon would still be rapping, but I dont think he would get shot. Oh and Devlin, Pac got pissed off at Biggie, coz Pac thought Biggie would have found out who shot him, or maybe visit him or help him out when he was in jail and shit. But when Pac saw BIG's lack of help or involvement, Pac got suspicious, and that's how the beef developed. If you listen to Pac's songs like Ride on our enemies and shit, you'll hear Pac talking about BIG.

Devlin i hear what your saying but tupac said he was THUG not a GANGSTA and plus almost anyone can sell crack soooo how does it make BIGGIE a gangsta because of that. Tupac spoke about real life and he still mentioned drugs but that doesn't matter he wanted a change biggie was still tryna live in that shitty lifestyle. Tupac talked about what he grew up in divided by economics rich and poor and it still goes on today

The music industry would have been way better and people like 50cent wouldn't stand a chance because tupac spoke about hard knock life and all that so all thing talking of 'bling', 'ol g' 'cars' would not be going on today because he would have set them all straight. I think tupac would have been in politics right now and who knows he could have been where Obama is today? hmmm. Not sure about biggie, i recon he would of still been dead because even though he was a great artist tupac had a VOICE and when it came to making a statement NOBODY CAN STOP HIM!

Tupac is one of the greatest rappers of all time, in fact he's the second best, but the Notorious BIG is the best. Whoever you are who's claiming that Big can't rap really needs to learn about what rap is. Big had better beats, had a better flow and was a far superior freestlye rapper. Also god rest his soul, but it was Tupac who started the fued because he was mad that Biggie didn't ask him to be on Ready to Die. You obviously know nothing about rap if you thin Big is wack. If you happen to prefer Tupac i can understand that, but to say Big can't rap is ridiculous. By the way you are absolutely right that Tupac was a gangster, but not to the extent that BIg was. Tupac's raps were political, while Big's were all about the crack game. The main reason it's Big over Pac is because Big was a gangster and never pretended to be anything else. I love Tupac, but he used to talk in interviews about how the disparity between rich and poor was unfair, while he was wearing 8 gold rings and 2 big

and tyler, you dont know anything. tupac didnt go back to make "amens" with his enemies because he is a G! he knows how to stand up to what he thinks is right. tupac most definitally isnt a coward, like mr. biggie SMALLS. again his last name speaks for himself. i think it was best for biggie to die, that way he would stop embarassing himself with his lame music! again, thanks for you time.

i totally think that tupac is still alive. no one cares about biggie. no one cares if he is dead. he was a horrible rapper. tupac my far was better. i know this is stupid but if you google tupac in all feilds including images, you would get far more results about tupac rather than biggie. and plus for all them ladies out there, everyone KNOWS that tupac is GORGEOUS. biggie cant even compare to tupac. so there you go. tupac is better in music, words, looks, and everything else you can think of. thanks for your time :) peacee

i think if biggie were still alivehe would still be rapping , and making movies. i think that him and 2 pac would of went back 2 being friends and talk things out like men and join forces 2 show people why hip hop needs more unity. if 2 pac were still alive i think he would be into politics and he would be a politician. 2 pac was a very strong, loyal, independent, outspoken person who stood up 4 what he believed in no matter what people thought or the consequences he had 2 go through he was the voice of da eople and the oice of hip hop. that being said if he were still alive i think there is a great possibility that 2 pacwould of been in the same position as Barack Obama is right now and 2 pac would be well on his way 2 becoming the first Black president if he was still alive. (R.I.P biggie smalls) and (R.I.P Tupac Shakur) 2 of the greatest and most legendary rappers of all time.
