A Review of Mighty Leaf Teas

I have long been an avid tea drinker and am on a constant mission to discover new and unusual varieties and flavors of teas. Two years ago on a trip I stumbled across Mighty Leaf teas at an upscale restaurant, and was immediately taken in by the quality and taste of this product. The first thing that struck me about the Mighty Leaf brand of tea was its handcrafted silk tea bags, which are substantially bigger than the average store-bought tea bags, thus allowing the dried tea leaves and herbs to fully expand when immersed in hot water, creating a beverage with more pronounced aroma and flavor. The Mighty Leaf tea company's attention to quality and detail does not just end with their exterior bag packaging. In regard to flavor, the Mighty Leaf tea company has been known to scour the globe for the highest quality tea blends as well as herbs and spices to ensure that every person is given the ultimate taste experience. My personal favorite Mighty Leaf tea variety is Leaves of Provence. This variety combines black tea leaves with Provencal herbs such as verbena, peppermint, lavender, as well as fruits native to the area in France. Mighty Leaf's Leaves of Provence tea is a perfect all-occasion tea: the peppermint and verbena notes work well in the mornings to wake up your senses and jump start your day while the lavender provides a calming aspect to this tea, making it perfect as a relaxing end to a stressful day. Another personal favorite Mighty Leaf variety is their Mandarin Rose, which is only available in loose tea form. This variety combines black tea leaves with pink rose petals, a touch of citrus fruit wine essence and chocolate undertones to create the ultimate indulgent tea, which perfectly complements any dessert. Since this Mighty Leaf flavor is only available in loose form, it is, unfortunately, a bit less convenient than the highly portable individually-wrapped tea bags, but the delicate aroma of rose petals and the mingling of chocolate and citrus with these rose petals is truly such a unique flavor combination, that any and all annoyances with inconvenience are soon forgotten. As far as availability, I have found Mighty Leaf teas for sale at fine grocery stores as well as on their website, www.mltea.com. The loose teas can only be purchased in four ounce bags online, however the bags are equipped with zipper seals, so their shelf life can be expected to be quite long. One major drawback to Mighty Leaf teas is the hefty price tag- a box of fifteen tea bags can run as high as nine dollars- however, I have found that the guarantee of a good quality tea product is well worth the chunk of change. In short, if you are tired of your average run-of-the-mill teas, splurge and pick up a box of Mighty Leaf tea- you won't be disappointed.
