Wicca and other pagan religions have always incorporated the concept of dual deities, the god and goddess, the ying and yang. For example there is the Sun God, but the name of the sun god differs depending on the culture you were in - Roman, Greek, Egyptian, etc. One is not preferable over the other and a goddess is just as powerful as a god. A goddess isn't weaker than a god or lower in some celestial hierarchy. Some of these deities have more than one name, such as Gaia also known as Gaea. Calling the deity by either of these names is correct and is permitted, and I have both listed in this profile list. Below are some of the deities that may be used in rituals and any pagan or wiccan spell casting that come from Norse and Vedic times. These profiles are given with the information of the deity like the sex, color, animal or plant correspondence, notes on the deity, and the zodiac correspondence. That information can be useful to decide which deity should be used. Also, with the color given, you can match up some candles to the ritual spell or prayer.
