Scott Stapp, the 33-year old former singer of the band Creed, was arrested at his Florida home Sunday for domestic assault according to the New York Times. The charge against Stapp was for one count of domestic assault with intent to commit a felony. According to the Palm Beach County Jail, Scott Stapp is being held without bond.

Police did not name the victim in the case, however Stapp is married to Jaclyn Nesheiwat, a former "Miss New York." No information was provided on any injuries, and no one was brought to the hospital. Miss Neshiewat's only comment was to tell the Palm Beach Post that it was a "just a rough time."

According to MSNBC, Ms. Neshiewat was Miss New York 2004. She is also the director of public affairs for the Scott Stapp foundation, an organization that promotes healthy parent-child relationships.

Stapp married Neshiewat in February of 2006, and the couple have one child, a four-month old girl, Milan Hayat Stapp. This was the second marriage for Stapp. Stapp's previous marriage to Hillaree Burns ended in divorce in 1999. Stapp has one child from that marriage, Jagger Stapp.

Stapp's band, Creed, was a highly popular band in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The band won Grammy awards and sold over 25 million records. They are often compared to the band Pearl Jam in sound and style, though others would dispute this comparison.

Although the band has said they are not "Christian Rock," many have labeled them as such due to some of the subject matter of their albums. Stapp has said that he is a Christian, however.

Stapp is no stranger to controversy. According to MSNBC, in February of 2006, a Scott Stapp sex tape was reported to have been acquired by an adult film company. The tape featured Scott Stapp and singer Kid Rock engaging in graphic sex acts with four female fans. News of the sex tape came out shortly after Stapp's marriage to Ms. Neshiewat.

Also according to MSNBC, Stapp was also arrested for public drunkenness at the Los Angeles airport one day after his marriage to Ms. Neshiewat.
