The Shield is one of the hottest new TV shows and it keeps getting better. The Shield's 6th season airs on Tuesday nights at 10pm EST on FX. You can also catch a rerun of the episode on Thursday and Friday night's if you missed it the first time around- but I guarantee you won't want to miss it.

The Shield, produced and directed by Shawn Ryan, is about an elite team called the Strike Team which operates in Los Angelos. They are a group of cops who get the job done, no matter what it takes, and it's usually not legal. Detective Vic Mackey (played by Michael Chiklis) is probably the most corrupt of the group but he's the one who keeps you wondering and waiting for his next move. Three captains have tried to get rid of Mackey, yet none have been successful. Mackey's partners in crime include: Detective Shane Verdell (Walton Goggins), Ronnie Gardocki (David Rees Snell) and the late Curtis Lemanskey (Kenneth Johnson).

Vic is the ring leader of the Strike Team. He's also a divorced Dad of 3 autistic children. He is willing to risk his family, his freedom and his career to find Lem's killer. Vic has a child with Officer Danielle Sofer, which causes tension with his oldest daughter in Season 6. Since learning that the captain is trying to force him into retirement, Vic has started being a team player to try to please everyone. Will this tactic work, or is Vic on his way out?

Shane is the weasel of the show. He's come within inches of killing Vic to save his own skin, and he is the one who killed Lem. In the 6th season, Vic finds out what Shane has done and Shane puts in for a sabbatical and transfer for fear of his own life. Will Shane be able to weasel his way out of the tight place he's in, or is Vic going to 'win' this one too?

Captain Claudette Wym (C.C.H. Pounder) is out to get Vic. She started out as a detective and has moved up the ladder. She's worked with Vic, so she knows what he's capable of and knows how he thinks. The question is, is she willing to give Vic the boot and deal with the increase in crime when Vic isn't there to "take care of it"?
