Tune into FX on Monday nights at 10:00, and you will see their newest original hit series, "The Riches". Though completely outrageous, the basic plot of the show is fairly simple. After a car accident where a well-to-do man and his wife are killed, the con-artist/"Traveller" couple who was also involved in the accident steals their identities and assumes their lives. What follows is a drama that chronicles the life of a family living a lie. Despite how far-fetched the whole idea is, the writing and more over the characters are what makes "The Riches" work.

Wayne Malloy, played by comic Eddie Izzard, is the main character. He is an intelligent and gifted con artist, but during the time his wife was in prison he seemingly lost interest in the nomadic lifestyle of being a Traveller. He longs to lead an extraordinary life and thus leads his wife and children through the massive con of attempting to steal the American dream lifestyle. Though living the life of a dead man is a huge risk, Wayne absolutely shines and is able to ace an interview and become a lawyer though he never even attended law school. While in the public eye, Wayne is "Doug Rich".

Minnie Driver plays Wayne's wife, Dahlia, Cherien Rich as her neighbors now know her. She behaves erratically and unpredictably, possibly due to drug habits she picked up while in prison. She is an outspoken woman who lives for her three children. She realizes the seriousness of what they are doing and often has to remind Wayne of this. She is terrified of being found out and being separated from her family and sent back to prison, but she is willing to take the gamble if it means providing a better life for her children. She takes orders from no one, not even Wayne.

The oldest son Cael Malloy is brought to life by actor Noel Fisher. Cael is only seventeen years old, but he seems to one of the more stable members of the household. He is opposed to moving in to the dead couple's house and living their life, rather he would prefer to live by the Traveller ways and beliefs. Even after enrolling in a preparatory school in Edenfalls, he continues his criminal ways.
