Christopher Meloni: Law and Order: Special Victims Unit's Detective Elliot Stabler

Christopher Meloni plays Detective Elliot Stabler on NBC's Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. It was this role that landed Meloni a nomination for his fist Emmy Award as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

His character Det. Stabler, is an ex-marine and married with children throughout most of the shows running. Allowing his job to consume him, his wife thus files for divorce. The divorce papers he refuses to sign but eventually gives in and allows her the divorce. Now though, the two seem to be finding a sexual connection and has viewers wondering if they will get back together or not.

The real life actor though, off screen is married to Doris Sherman Williams and have two children that they acquired through a surrogate mother. A daughter named Sophia and a son named Dante.
