When trying to increase sales, many business owners find themselves at a dead end. This problem often boils down to a matter of perspective. By entering the mind of the prospect or potential client, you the business owner can follow six simple steps toward increasing sales. These steps discuss a variety of marketing and advertising strategies that you can use to boost your businesses sales revenue. Marketing and advertising can sometimes be complicated, but here we will keep things simple to best help you achieve the increase in sales you desire.

1. Retain Current Customers: Customers love to feel appreciated and prefer to shop where they feel their money matters. Reward customers with special discounts, incentive programs, or free gifts that let them know you appreciate their patronage. Business owners often forget their current customers while in the pursuit of new customers. By following this step, you will generate more frequent purchases and establish a loyal customer base for your business.

2. Generate Prospects: The next step toward increasing sales for your business is to generate a pool of prospective customers you can potentially sell your product or service to. You can do this a number of different ways. Customer referrals, open houses, and media based advertising are the most common ways people generate prospects but the most important thing to know is who you want to target. Who are your customers? Who uses products and/or services like yours? Establish a target demographic based on this information, such as women ages 25 to 34 or adults 35 to 54, and you will be able to generate more qualified prospects.

  • Get into the mind of the prospective customer or client.
