This is a review of ER , one of my favorite television shows of all time. ER is a medical drama show on NBC, that has been on television since September of 1994. It is one of my favorite shows of all time, due to the show always moving forward and developing new characters. I think that is why it has remained fresh and does not stagnate like most shows of more than a couple of seasons.

While I do get attached to certain characters like Dr. Mark Greene (played by Anthony Edwards) I do like the new characters. And often characters do not just leave the show, they are killed off which adds to the drama.

Some of the characters killed off.

Dr. Mark Greene (Anthony Edwards) shortly after marrying Dr. Cordayay (Alex Kingston) dies of a brain tumor. His character has the tumor earlier but it is treated and thought to be gone. It returns to kill him later. Poor Edwards also died in his most well known role as "Goose" in the hit movie "Top Gun:".

Dr. Michael GallantSharifif Atkins) was a member of the United States Army Reserves, and came from a military family. His character was killed in Iraq shortly after marrying DrNeelalRasgotraraParmindereNagrara)

Dr. Robert Romano (PauMccranene) was one of the most disliked characters in ER history. I loved him myself, but his character was very arrogant. He was injured (lost an arm) to a helicopter incident on the roof. On a later episode he had a panic attack after being close to another chopper on the roof. As he ran outside the ER it crashed and landed on him!

Medical Student Lucy Knight (Kelly Martin) was another favorite character of mine. Cute and Spunky she was a great addition to the cast. She was stabbed to death by a mentally ill patient. Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle) was seriously injured in the same attack. He then developed an addiction to pain killers as a result of the injury.

Great Actors on the show.

ER has also had a good mix of new actors with established actors to make a well rounded cast. Some of the main characters who were well known from other movies or shows.

Anthony Edwards- Dr. Mark Greene was in Revenge of the Nerds and Top Gun before being on ER.

I like ER too for the reasons you stated, character development/social issues. When John Carter was in Africa and was on his knees and was almost shot it gave me shivers. I think it was lame how Romano died.

I love this show. I don't get to watch it often because my husband doesn't care for it but I catch it when I can. Dr. Green and Dr. Carter were my two favorites.

I just started watching old episodes of Grey's Anatomy and I am enjoying it more than I did ER

Same as Amy - I left when Clooney and other cast did but I like Anthony Edwards too. It is amazing about Clooney's display of talent after leaving. I'd love to see the show again though. Nice job. Oh and when isn't fishing season :-) Watch the bugs.
