Last year AC writer Kate J. Chase mocked a report that obesity was caused by a virus. She went on in her report to show that dental cavities are also caused by a virus, but are kept in check by proper dental care. Therefore, she concluded, "we probably won't get a "get out of the fat farm free" card with respect to our dietary intake. Meanwhile continued research helps to alleviate the blame from to those who do not eat like "little piggies", but still cannot seem to control their ever-expanding waistline.

"Dr. Ken Fujioka, of Scripps Weight Management Clinic and Research, is the first weight-loss researcher in the country to perform a clinical trial that tests blood for the so-called "fat germ". Applicants must fall into certain guidelines like being in overall good health and being non-smokers.

Dr. Fujioka states that based upon research, the same bacteria that frequently may cause a cold or a can turn into "virus goes into your cells and makes you make more fat cells". "According to researchers from the American Journal of Physiology, adenoviruses No. 36 and No. 37 -- germs that frequently cause colds -- have been found to trigger obesity in animals." He further states that research has shown that some bacteria break down fat too fast, causing it to be stored faster than normal. These bacteria make it easier for you to absorb fat and make you gain calories from the food you eat. This may also explain why overweight people are always hungry. Unfortunately, there is still no known cure to fight this disease besides eating right and exercising.

Eating doesn't have as much to do with fat as we think.
