Recap of Grey's Anatomy Season Finale: Season 3

Is it over for, well, every couple on Grey's Anatomy? With Meredith Grey giving McDreamy the silent treatment, Izzie confessing her undying love for George, "Ava" (Rebecca) going back home to her deadbeat husband, and Cristina getting dumped at her own wedding, what is going to happen in the romance realm for Grey's Anatomy next season?

Well, one thing that viewers can bet on is that it isn't going to be another season of happiness and blissful relationships again. Just as we were starting to get bored with the constant sappy look that Derek kept in his eyes for Meredith, he starts chatting up a woman in a bar who is suspected to have a very close relationship with his current flame. Attempting to use jealousy as a means of getting Meredith's attention again, McDreamy inadvertently pushes her away. The end of the episode leaves the question of whether or not they are "so over," as Meredith put it, wide open for next season.

The not so surprising unhappy ending to Burke and Cristina's wedding, or wedding attempt, rather, was due to a misunderstanding. Cristina had accidentally washed off the handwritten wedding vows that she had scribbled on her palm and panicked right before she was to walk down the aisle. Interpreting her hesitation as an unwillingness to marry him, Burke walks down the aisle and ends it with Cristina in front of the other cast members in the chapel's foyer. In their once shared apartment later on that day, Cristina breaks down in front of Meredith and begins to rip off her wedding gown in a crazed, tearful frenzy, all the while exclaiming that she is "finally free."
