Entourage is another big hit in the recent string of hit cable TV shows produced by HBO, which takes its audience into the world of a movie star like never before seen. On the show Entourage, we follow the lead character Vincent (Vince) Chase as he pursues acting roles in Hollywood and works to maintain his career. Chase is joined in Hollywood by two childhood friends (Turtle and Eric) and his older half -brother (Johnny "Drama"), who is also an actor. Vince's obnoxiously talented super agent (Ari Gold) adds humor and steals most every seen he's in. Entourage is loosely based on the early career of movie star Mark Wahlberg, who executive produces the show. As you watch Vince move through Hollywood daily and see the encounters he has with fans, his agent, and movie executives, you can't help but to see Wahberg in those situations and imagine if he handled them the same way. We get a look at the business side of Hollywood and get to see all the work that goes in before and after the cameras are rolling.
While we get to see Vince handling his business and make strategic moves, he is a big star, so there is also lots of partying. The group has partied everywhere from the backyard of high school fan, to the Playboy Mansion with Hugh Heffner and all the bunnies. You can't help but to appreciate how down to earth Vince is and how he relates to different types of people. With his friends, brother, and Ari (sort of the father figure to the group) Vince keeps his head and stays grounded with the madness of Hollywood and stardom all around.
With the Sopranos coming down to the final two episodes, and not sure when we will see another series of the Wire, Entourage is going to be the only hit going on HBO. A big fan from day one, I would like to see the show increased to an hour even though it is a sitcom. Entourage comes on Sunday nights at 10 pm (after Sopranos for now) and for those who haven't tuned in yet, you are missing an exciting show.
