The initial reaction when I noticed Bobo was not in the house to give me his evening purrs and cuddles was to panic. Instantly, I started thinking the worse - perhaps a bit of that pessimism sneaking through. I immediately sent the family on a hunt calling for him through our subdivision even though night had fallen. Then I proceeded to cry and feel sorry for myself because, after all, I am the master of pity parties.
After my initial reaction, I started doing searched on the Internet looking for solution and maybe just a bit of hope. What I found didn't fill me with the hope I had been looking for, and instead fill me with dread. If a dog happens to lose his way, his chances of finding his way home by any means are fairly good. However, few lost cats are ever returned to the comfort of their own homes again. Seems my pessimism may have been well founded.
