Paid-To-Click and Paid-To-Read programs are where you get paid to read emails and click on advertisements.

As a stay at home mother I was pretty desperate to find a way to make some extra money online and be home with my children at the same time.

So of course I signed up for several Paid-To-Read / Paid-To-Click programs and would get hundreds of emails in my inbox each day.

I would click away for hours a time, thinking that I was going to make some great money. Clicks ranged between 0.25 of a cent upwards of 1 cent each.

It was be a huge accomplishment for me to be able to reach a $1 payout and collect it in my Pay Pal.

It took me a while to realize that I was spending several hours a day on PTC / PTR programs just to make a dollar.

On top of that, it was very time consuming and took me away from my children. The PTC and PTR programs put a lot of junk on my computer because I was visiting hundreds of web pages every day.

Some of the more popular paid-to-read programs out there today are Adbux and Clixsense.

Adbux claims that you will make 1 cent for every ad you click and 1 cent for every ad your referrals click. Adbux excitingly proclaims that you can make 10 cents a day if you will click on 10 ads per day. It gets better, if you get 10 referrals under you who also click 10 ads a day you will get a whole $1 a day!

This may just be my opinion, but working to get 10 referrals under me so I can make $1 a day doesn't really seem like it is worth the effort. Why should people commit to a program in order to make 10 cents a day when there are other more profitable ways to make money online?

I also checked out Clixsense and they seem more professional to me than Adbux does, but I still do not think either one of them are worth working for. Considering you will literally be making pennies an hour, you would have to spend your entire day clicking ads to make anything.

You may be wondering how I make money online if I don't participate in these free paid-to-read and paid-to-click programs. It is simple; I use a different type of free program that pays me several dollars a day as opposed to several pennies.

A friend once referred me to a site where you make money by reading e-mails. I made 2 cents per e-mail. The bigger problem was that they weren't sending out but maybe 4 e-mails per day. i never reached the $15 payout before i quit. You're right, those kinds of sites aren't worth the effort.
